Automobile Sales Associate
Job Description

The following is an automobile sales associate job description for retail automobile sales people that I use in my sales academy program.

Prospecting - sales associate job description

  • Build a list of people in your “zone of influence”
  • Follow-up with your prospects & customers by phone, mail or in person with an effective system (step 12)
  • Wear your nametag, hand out business cards & ask for referrals daily
  • Have a “hot prospect” file of people whom you plan to sell in 30 days
  • Log in all your appointments on appointment board (step 11)

Effectively Perform the First Five Selling Steps

  • Take turns on sales floor – if you are up be in selling position – no exceptions
  • Do an effective meet & greet with each prospect (step 1)
  • Fact find with each prospect & utilize the guest sheet to do this (step 2)
  • “Log-in” each OTDB (opportunity to do business) – no exceptions
  • Review guest sheet with desk manager to assist manager in selection of vehicles
  • Do an effective selling evaluation (step 3) with each OTDB
  • Select with management a vehicle from stock to show prospect (step 4)
  • Give a highly effective product presentation & demonstration tailored to the prospects wants and needs
  • Maintain a positive selling attitude, believing that everyone you meet is a buyer today, tomorrow or someday soon.

Obtain a committed Write Up - sales associate job description

  • Set the stage for negotiations by elimination upcoming objections (step 6)
  • Start your write with the trial close and summary closes (step 7)
  • Call desk (or go to desk) to start deal (step 8)
  • Get the three Cs from your customer (step 9)
  • Compete the logging in of your customers (step 12)

  • Set goals, something to aim for, daily, weekly, monthly and annually (log book)
  • Dress for success – neat clean business like appearance
  • Continuously study your product and sharpen your selling tools
