Free Career Interest Test -
For the Work You Love

A free career interest test could open your eyes to better and exciting career opportunities. You typically spend more of your waking hours during a work day at your job (including commuting time) than any other place. It’s important you and your job are a good fit.

Believe me I have experienced job frustration burnout and it’s no fun. I studied accounting in school and when I graduated my first job was in accounting. I was on the audit staff of an accounting firm. Reconciling this statement, verifying that schedule, tracking down some document…it could not have been more boring or dull for me. I felt like I was in boredom job prison and my pinstripe suite was my prison uniform. The amazing thing is there are actually people who like that accounting stuff and that’s a good thing – for them.

After I had enough pain I changed jobs several times first in accounting then in other fields. Then I met someone who offered to give me a free career interest test and I said sure.

When I got the results of the test I knew they were describing the real me. Basically the test said that I was a people person and that I would be better suited working in a more social type job – like sales. It also said I did not like working with a lot of detailed data or information – like accounting.

After reading the results of that free career interest test I changed my career to sales. I am so glad I did that. In terms of satisfaction, in terms of income, in terms of feeling free again, it’s been a great thing for me.

I don’t want you to have to serve time in “boredom job prison” like I had to endure for several years. Believe me it’s not a fun experience.

Here is how most of them work. The free career interest test is usually a shorter version of a longer paid career interest test. But the thing about it is if you get a good free career interest test it can actually point you in the right general career direction. If you want to pay for one it can cost you about fifty to several hundred dollars and if it helps you get in the right career that’s a bargain.

But let’s talk about the free ones because I like to save money and my guess is you do too. One free career interest test I like is given by iVillage called Ideal Job Test. I like it because it is quick and easy and the results for me were very accurate. And if you want their longer version it’s very inexpensive.

Here is why I’m not encouraging you to spent money on a longer expensive career interest test. If you apply for a job with a top company they will usually give you the expensive test. When they do this they pay the several hundred dollars for the test not you. If you ask they will usually review the results of the test with you and you can also ask for a copy of the results. I like that deal better - they pay - not you.
