I made you this cover letter example because if you’re like me things make more sense once you see them. This sample cover letter is not the only way to do it, but it’s a good one for salespeople.

If you are looking for a self starter sales professional that is an exceptional closer, I would like to apply to for your widget salesperson opening.

My following accomplishments are why I feel I can help your organization achieve your sales goals. They are also why I am uniquely qualified to help you receive another top customer satisfaction award for the fourth year in a row:

• Most recently two years of successful experience selling brand R widgets exceeding my quota both years by over 15%.
• Awarded salesperson of the month 5 times in the last 12 months
• Previous experience as a customer service representative for one year achieving the top customer satisfaction ratings in my department.
• Associates degree in marketing from Valley Community Collage

Point #1 – Addressed it to the specific right person, not some generic Dear Sir.

Point #2 – Started right out with his strengths that applied to the opening and said exactly what opening he was applying for.

Point #3 – Showed he knew something about the company (satisfaction awards). Let them know they are a company he admires.

Point #4 – Used bullets for higher readability and all bullets were relevant to the job opening.

Point #5 – Had a good close by asking for the sale (the interview).
